There’s been a lot of interest lately in systems for organizing ribbons, so I thought I’d post a project I made earlier this year that uses ribbon…lots of ribbon. In fact, I think I used about seven spools of American Crafts ribbon for this project.
I love projects like this that begin with something that I was tempted to throw away. In this case, I used a Valentine candy box to create a frame for a favorite picture of my guys.

Supplies: Ribbon—American Crafts; cardstock—Bazzill Bling; jewels—Tulip; acrylic plaque—KI Memories; diecutting system—Cricut.
Read on for the directions.
Directions:
Here are the directions, in case you’ve got an empty candy box lying around.

1. Remove the insert from the candy box. Trace it onto a piece of chipboard, and cut it out. It should fit somewhat loosely inside the bottom of the box.
2. Measure the depth of the box, and cut two strips of Strawberry Daiquiri cardstock to size. Glue them to the inside edge of the box, and cut off the excess.
3. Beginning at the top of the heart, cover the chipboard insert with six different ribbons, alternating the patterns and colors. Glue the ribbon down as you go along. Leave about 1/2 inch extra at the edges.
4. When the insert is completely covered, flip the heart over and tape down the edges of the ribbon.
5. Glue the insert to the inside of the box.
6. Mat a 4 x 6-inch black-and-white photo on Diamond cardstock, and scallop the edges if desired. Draw a black border around the photo, and place it in the box as shown, but don’t glue it down yet.
7. Handcut or diecut a heart from Feather Boa cardstock, and draw a black border around the edge. Add it to the box, slipping one corner behind the photo. Adhere both the heart and the photo.
8. Handcut or diecut the title letters from Sugar Daddy cardstock, and adhere them to the box.
9. Punch two holes in the top of the box. Thread the loose ends of a long piece of the seventh ribbon through the holes, and knot them inside.
