This is what happens when I scrap cranky. I was having a less-than-ideal day yesterday and took it out on the weather….

Winter Sucks

Supplies: Patterned paper, diecut, and chipboard photo corners from Scenic Route’s Garland collection; letter stickers from Lil’ Davis Designs.

This layout was part of the Lift the Pubster above You challenge at Two Peas. I was inspired by this layout by little-ducky.

I’ll be much cheerier when this cold snap has ended. I promise.

Winter is here

I’ve been in a wintery kind of mood this week—and no wonder. We’ve had a major ice storm and more than a foot of snow already, and it’s only January. I’m not thrilled with this weather, but A.J. and Nate are, especially when it means that school is cancelled for the day.

Here’s a layout with photos from our last big storm in December. I lasted only about five minutes outside—long enough to take photos of everyone—but the boys loved sledding down the little hill in our backyard and stayed out until their fingers and toes were numb.

Here’s a closer look at the acrylic shapes I used. I just love these.

If that layout gives you chills, here are a couple of projects to warm you up:

Supplies: Patterned papers, acrylic accents, metallic foil stickers, and ribbon—Harmonie loisirs créatifs; punch—Fiskars.

Stay warm.

A quick layout showing one of the many items on our New Year’s to-do list:

Busted

Supplies: patterned paper and accent stickers—KI Memories; alphabet stickers—Chatterbox; sneaky guy stamp—Edward Gorey Kidstamps.

Best wishes for the new year!

But, Santa!

Here’s another layout from the town Christmas party, this one featuring A.J. putting in his request with the big guy. The journaling reads,

It might look as if Santa is chastising A.J. for his behavior, but they’re just joking around. A.J. has been great all year, and chances are good that Santa will bring him the chemistry set he wants.

But Santa

The patterned papers, ribbon, and metallic foil stickers are from Harmonie’s Christmas line. I cut the ornaments from a piece of patterned paper and topped them off with Harmonie’s metallic foil stickers. The stickers come in silver and gold–perfect for festive holiday layouts–but can be colored with permanent markers. The shiny “strings” attached to the ornaments are strips that I cut from the excess material on the same sticker sheet. Easy peasy.

But Santa Detail

Here comes Santa!

Can you believe it’s nearly Christmas already? The ice storm last weekend really threw off our holiday schedule. It’s going to be a mad rush to get everything done in time.

One of the few holiday-related events we attended this year was the annual Christmas party that my neighbor organizes for the town next to ours. We always try to get there early to wait for Santa to arrive (by firetruck) for the party. This is the closest Nate would get to Santa this year. He became feverish during the party (pneumonia, as it turned out) and refused to sit on Santa’s lap. Instead, he kept mine warm for most of the party.

Here Comes Santa

Supplies: Papers, chipboard, and stickers from Scenic Route’s Garland line.

I converted the photo on the left to black-and-white so Nate’s coat wouldn’t clash with the rest of the layout. Though unplanned, I like the way the photos seem to gain color as you move from left to right.

I decided it was time to dress up my new coupon organizer. I used papers and a sticker from the Star a GoGo line from Harmonie loisirs créatifs. Isn’t that owl cute?

A lift of a lift…

I made the following 8 x 8 layout for the “Lift the Turkey above You” scraplift challenge at The Pub. I was inspired by the gorgeous work in Stephanie Howell’s gallery at Two Peas, especially this layout with the photo of her daughter’s legs. It reminded me of a picture Nate had insisted I take of him during a birthday portrait shoot last year. He has a somewhat unusual sense of just what makes a good portrait.

Supplies: Patterned papers, diecuts, letter stickers—Scenic Route; metal butterfly—Karen Foster; chipboard square—Junkitz; chipboard frame—Target; adhesive—Aleene’s(R) Original Tacky Glue(R).

I liked the design of the layout so much, I decided to scraplift myself, using the same layout plan and the same product. This 6 x 6 layout is going in a different album, so I don’t mind that the two pages are so similar:

Not Thos. Jefferson

Supplies: Patterned papers, diecut, letter stickers—Scenic Route; stamps—PSX; adhesive—Aleene’s(R) Original Tacky Glue(R).

As you might guess, there’s a story behind this layout, which is part of my Disney album, but I love my husband too much to tell it. Suffice it to say, there are certain bets that one should not place with an Am Civ major….

Fall frame

This frame is a gift for my father-in-law, who is about to undergo surgery. My husband thought a picture of his grandkids might brighten up the hospital room.

Supplies: The beautiful fall papers, foil stickers, and ribbon are from Harmonie loisirs creatifs. Other: stitched tag—Chatterbox; stamps—PSX; adhesive—Aleene’s(R) Original Tacky Glue(R).

Happy Holidays!

I know it’s not even October yet, but I had some scraps lying around from my “Brrrrrr” layout and I couldn’t resist putting them to use. The patterned paper and stickers are from Reminisce’s Snow Globe collection. I added some linen scraps, a bit of vintage lace, and a couple of embellishments.

Baby, it’s cold outside

A snowman in Florida? In August? Only in Disney World.

The journaling reads,

The boys couldn’t resist the novelty of posing next to a snowman in Orlando’s summer heat. The snowman didn’t have the cooling effect Nate was hoping for, however.

Supplies: Patterned papers—Reminisce; stickers—Reminisce; brads—Creative Impressions.
